Match Report
Kernow Wanderers 2-11 Grampound Veterans
14 December
2024
Cornwall Veterans League
The hosts started with 10 men but the final scoreline was unexpected, to say the least. The first half saw Grampound go ahead through Alex Knight after just 7 minutes but , in their first attack soon after Kernow scored a good goal and Grampound, deep down, feared the worst.
A couple of Grampound goals midway through the half helped Grampound feel a little more comfortable and these were taken really well by Greg Dunn on a break from a home corner and by an overhead kick from Ben Taylor.
After the break Grampound played much better than their frequently slow and scrappy efforts of the first half. Passes were shorter and more crisply hit and player movement showed much more urgency. A tired home team, battling as well as they could became tired and overwhelmed with 8 further goals, some of which showed a lot better technique than the first half efforts. Second half scorers were Ben Taylor (on 50. 78 and 87 minutes), Jules Woodman (2 good shots on 75 and 80 minutes), Dean Roberts (57 min), Steve Best (an excellent header on 58 min) and Alex Knight (82 min).
