St Piran League
Grampound, fielding a depleted squad due to a spate of injuries, started slowly which seems to have become the norm ans spent the first 10 minutes with little possession. The visitors, however, failed to make the most of Grampound's problems and together with some good defending presented few real problems around thearea of the goal. Grampound worked themselves back into the match and gradually gained the initiative, making a few chances to put the visiting keeper under pressure but somehow not connecting well enough or quickly enough to make it count. Grampound goal after about 35 minutes came when a cross from the left was delivered but stpped by a clear handball. Dean Dunn converted the resulting spotkick with a cofident low shot into the corner.
The second half started badly for Grampound when in the opening minute a misdirected header gave Pensilva a chance and the result was an equaliser that had come from a position of zero danger. With the visiting team offering a limited attacking presence Grampound had the better of the half and might have grabbed a winner but for 3 outstanding late saves by the Pensilva goalkeeper from good efforts which on another day might have given Grampound all the points.
