Match Report
Grampound 9-0 North Hill
25
January 2025
St Piran League
Grampound enjoyed a lot of possession in the first half but were often crowded out in the penalty area as North Hill defended much of the time. A few reasonable chances were missed or the final pass was not good enough and the score at the break was limited to just 2-0. The first goal was an excellent finish from Nathan Penfold when his drive found the top corner and the second was a well-placed penalty from Dean Dunn after Gavin Boon had been pulled down in the penalty box.
The second half was a different
story. The level of
possession was about the same
but the level of football went
up several notches. Dean
Dunn hit a terrific free kick
into the top corner for his
second goal and Brendan Hitchens
scored his customary goal with a
good finish. Gavin Boon
showed his class by continually
finding space and hitting some
outstanding finishes, resulting
in a personal tally of 4
excellent goals. Dean Dunn
managed to miss a penalty before
he scored the final goal,
a spectacular effort to complete
his first ever hat-trick for the
club. A driven cross was hit
from the right and Dean managed
to volley the ball which was
about to pass harmlessly behind
him. His effort resulted in an
unstoppable shot into the top
corner.
The tally of 9 goals,
with 7 in an impressive second
half performance was
well-deserved as Grampound moved
the ball well and made good runs
throughout the half, outworking
the opposition throughout, even
when well ahead. Credit,
however, should go to the North
Hill goalkeeper whose
performance kept the scoreline
in single figures.
