St Piran League
Grampound raced into an early lead when Gavin Boon was quicker than his young chasers and he finished off the through ball perfectly. Six minutes later the trick was repeated with Brendan Hitchens supplying another excellent finish. With the wind and slope in their favour Grampound should have pushed on to make the points completely safe but didn't and although the hosts did not cause too many problems they were awarded a dubious penalty which was saved well by Mark Roch diving to his right in goal for Grampound. Grampound always looked the more likely to score but we were unable to extend the lead until shortly before the break when Dean Dunn's long free kick into the penalty area managed to find the net.
Three goals ahead as the second half started, play after the break saw few incidents of note. With the elements in their favour the home side pushed forwards but created little although Grampound did not do a great deal better. GSM pulled a goal back when a long and high effort evaded the grasp of Roch in Grampound's goal but this very rare mistake on his part made little difference to Grampound securing another 3 points, managing the last 15 minutes well, especially Hal Davis with a dominating display both on the ground and in the air at the centre of Grampound's back four.
