Match Report
Lifton Res. 0-10 Grampound

2024
St Piran League
Grampound started this game
after a long trip to Lifton
after back to back wins
looking to make it 3 out of 3.
Grampound
started well with Dean Dunn
playing a through ball to Gavin
Boon to make it 1-0 with pretty
much a tap in.
Grampound's second was a quick
throw out from Mark Roch in the
Grampound goal, finding Kiall
Maugham on the left hand side
who played a delightful through
ball for Boon again to score his
second with a clinical finish.
Grampound’s 3rd came from a free
kick centre of the pitch, which
Deano took just inside the
opposition half and lofted a
delightful pass towards the
middle of the goal where the on
running Nathan Penfold from the
back stick connected with a side
foot volley to leave the keeper
absolutely no chance and rooted
to the spot. (Baby celebrations
came out) congratulations to
Nathan and the family on the
safe arrival of his baby boy!!
Grampound’s 4th came from a
Keegan Lloyd pass picking the
ball up inside his own half on
the left hand side and again
playing a defence splitting pass
to put through Boon with his
lightning pace who took it round
the keeper and was brought down
for a clear penalty. Up stepped
Lloyd to smash home leaving the
keeper with no chance, with a
one step finish.
Grampound’s 5th was well worked
by Boon going round 3 players on
the left hand side and passing a
ball to the edge of the area to
find Lloyd who struck the ball
hard and low. The keeper got a
hand to the shot but the ball
ended up in the back of the net.
Grampound’s 6th again was
through the link up of our 2
dominant centre forwards Boon
again causing all kinds of
trouble down the left hand side
dropping a shoulder to go past
the right back and squaring the
ball on a plate for Lloyd to tap
in for his 3rd goal of the game
and his hat-trick.
Grampound’s 7th came when
Penfold collected the ball at
left back and picked out one of
the passes of the gam,e playing
the ball over the top for Boon
who killed the ball dead with
beautiful control and curled the
ball into the roof of the net to
give him his 3rd of the game and
his hat-trick.
Grampound’s 8th again was all
about the partnership of Lloyd
and Bo., Keegan played a lovely
through ball finding Gavin to
curl top bins again. How he does
it and makes it look so easy is
beyond me. What a player and
what an important partnership
for us this season.
Grampound’s 9th, Keegan found
Gavin in the box and Gavin does
what Gavin does best and beats
his man and slips the ball
through the keepers legs to make
it 9-0, Gavin’s 5th of the
game.
Grampound’s 10th came from
Callum Hennessy winning the ball
at the back and looking up and
passing a lofted ball up to
Lloyd who was out on the left
hand side. He bullied the
defender as he did all game and
found himself through 1 on 1
where he looked to put the ball
in far corner and sat the keeper
down and rolled it the opposite
way. 10-0 and Keegan’s 4th of
the game!!!
Grampound
manager Martin Lloyd was very
happy with his side's
performance, some very good
squad performances the main
stand out player for us being
Hayden Bates coming on, showing
that he is a key player for us
this season and what he
can do ending up with the man of
the match performance. We are
looking solid all across the
pitch and was missing a few
players also so very happy with
that. We have a week off now but
we go again on the 14th. This
year won’t be easy but we have
made a very good start. Very
happy with the way we are
playing however the best is yet
to come!!! Stay calm, stay
humble and take the 3 points!
Man of
the match Hayden Bates.
