Match Report

Grampound 3-0 North Hill

17th October 2020

Duchy League Division 2

Grampound began the game in dominating mood and looked to pass the visitors out of the game but although a few half chances were made, none were taken and North Hill gradually worked their way back into the match. Grampound were trying out a new shape and it was working well although North Hill did manage to find space in Grampound's penalty area without making it count. The visiting goalkeeper Kyle Prophet (who has turned out for Grampound Vets in the past) made a couple of decent saves, most notably from Grampound striker Dylan Fox.  Shortly before the break, Sam Blount was fouled in the penalty area as we was shooting and Dean Dunn converted the penalty kick to give Grampound a useful lead.

The second half continued as much of the first with Grampound threatening but rarely managing to get a shot off and North Hill showing decent movement but little in the way of a penalty area threat, with Grampound keeper Riley not having a real direct shot to save.  With 20 minutes left a good through ball found Dylan Fox and his run onto the ball was thwarted by a combination of a foul and handball.  Martin Lloyd stepped up to put the penalty kick into the corner to give Grampound an extra cushion. Soon after, Fin Littlejohn put the game safe with a well-taken goal after a good run and cut-back from striker Pete Thomas who has re-signed for the club.  This was a comfortable win which Grampound will be glad is under their belt!
