Grampound 2-2 Biscovey

7th March 2020

Duchy League

After months of rain, the surface was difficult for both sides but the visitors seemed to adapt better earlier on.  Grampound went behind when a long cross sailed into the far top corner but the team responded well and good chances were conjured up for Dylan Fox and Aiden Richards but the ball would not run well for the home side. The equaliser came when a 25 yard free kick from Dean Dean rebounded across the goal after hitting the post where Shane Weeks was on hand to smash the ball home.  Grampound were now camped inside the Biscovey half and a number of chances came without result.  With little threat being offered, Grampound defenders were robbed of the ball and the mistake lead to Biscovey going ahead again, making the score 2-1 at the break.

Both sides looked to improve their position and both sides made some reasonable chances but the deciding point came wehen BJ Walkham was brought down as he foraged into the penalty area, Dean Dunn converting the resulting penalty comfortably.  BJ was unlucky to not be awarded a second penalty soon after when he was pushed over as he went to head a cross but the referee waved play on.  Biscovey looked dangerous on a couple of occasions in the last minutes but the game finished level at 2-2, a fair result on the day.
