Grampound 2-1 Stithians

27th July 2019

Friendly

This was a much improved display against good quality Trelawny Premier Division opposition. Grampound had the better of the chances before the break with Jules Woodman and youngster Jamie Bennetts going close. Martin Baker, back at Grampound after a spell away, looked dangerous and had a number of good efforts on goal. Stithians took the lead in the second half when Harry Cooke could only partially stop a shot and the rolling ricochet was followed in by a jubilant visiting forward.  Grampound were unlucky when a cutback to Joe Dunn was hit well from 15 yards but struck a defender on the line. From the resulting corner, Adam Hayne, another who has returned to Grampound, lashed the equaliser home from close range and shortly after smashed an unstoppable shot into the top corner from 25 yards, giving Grampound the win that their performance deserved.
