Match Report
Grampound 11-2 St Ann's Chapel
11th January 2020
Duchy League
Grampound were in charge throughout the game, rarely being put under too much pressure. Dylan Fox opened the scoring after 3 minutes with a powerful run and shot and went on to score a remarkable 7 goals, all but his second being typical of his pace and power. His second still needed him to be determined as he stole the ball, evaded defenders and rolled the ball into the net. His last goal was an exceptional strike as he he controlled the ball on his chest and volleyed into the roof of the net from 20 yards. The rest of the team also played impressively against a moderate visiting team with a bare 11 . James Fryer opened his goalscoring account with a great flick in the first half and a drive into the top corner in the second. Matt Skews and George Bolt weighed in with goals too, the latter scoring his first goal for the club with his first touch after coming on as sub at half-time. The half time score was 6-0 and it was inevitable that the intensity would drop off but the football played was very pleasing at times. The visiting goalkeeper made a number of exceptional saves but was unable to prevent Grampound from, at last, showing what a really good side the present squad is, and the team also welcomed back midfielder Martin Lloyd who had a pleasing run out after his recent return to the club.
