Match Report
Grampound 4-0 Bude Town 3rds
24th August 2019
Duchy League Division 3
Grampound started their league programme against Duchy League newcomers Bude Town 3rds and completed a resounding victory. Grampound started well but it was Bude who conjured the first chance. Ryan Henderson, an experienced Grampound campaigner standing in for the unavailable Harry Cooke, made a good save from close range and although Bude threatened that was their last realistic opportunity to score. On 8 minutes, Henderson launched the ball towards the Bude goal from his penalty area and Dylan Fox comfortably outpaced the visiting defence to slot the ball home. Grampound were one up early in the game but the rest of the first half saw few chances at either end until a long cross saw Skews and Fox challenge for the ball. The visiting goalkeeper pushed the ball into his own net to put Grampound two ahead just before the break.
Manager James Webb adjusted the shape of his midfield at the break and that effectively saw the end of any real challenge from the visitors. Grampound looked comfortable throughout the second period and extended their lead on the hour when Sam Blount collected the ball 30 yards from goal, played a neat on-two with Danny Stephens and then hit a low drive into the bottom corner from 25 yards for Grampound' third goal. Grampound looked as if they might extend their lead even further with almost every attack but it was a penalty that saw this happen. Joe Dunn played a neat ball to BJ Walkham who took on his marker. As he drove into the penalty area he was upended by a defender for a clear penalty. Dean Dunn stepped up to slam the ball into the bottom corner to give Grampound a deserved scoreline and win.
