Grampound FC : Football Pontoon Game

This is a club fundraising game that will cost only about a pound per week and will help support the club and its finances. It will continue through the season.  Players can withdraw at any time.  We hope that all players and friends of the club will take part.
Game 1 starts Friday 26th October.

How the Game Works

Each Pontoon player is allocated a team randomly by computer from the Premier League and Championship. The main winner of a Pontoon game is the first player whose team scores exactly a total of 11 or 21 goals.  There is also a “booby prize” for the lowest scorer. Entry to a game costs £5 and each Pontoon game will probably last about 5 weeks or so.

The first player whose team scores a total of exactly 11 or 21 goals wins 45% of the total money staked and at that point the player whose team has scored the lowest number of goals wins 5% (the booby prize) — as an example, if we can get 30 people to take part in a game the winner would receive £67.50 and the booby prize would be £7.50.
The more players involved, the more you can win!

The profits from the Pontoon game  help keep match fees down and allow us to pay for new kit and equipment.

The rules of Grampound FC Football Pontoon are available below.

To take part pay your first £5 to Allan Webb.  Payments can be made in cash or by debit/credit card.

Your payment MUST be made by the Wednesday before the game startson a Friday to take part in a game.

The randomly allocated teams for the first game of the season can be seen on our website on 16th October.

Grampound Football Pontoon 2024-5: The Rules

1. Players are randomly allocated a team for each Pontoon game.
Players cannot choose their team(s)
2. Each time a game is started, the teams are re-drawn randomly for everyone, so a player should not have the same team in consecutive Pontoon games.
3. Goals scored by a team in their first match of any weekend (Friday to Monday inclusive) only are counted
4. Domestic league, cup and play-off games will count.
European  competition games and friendlies (including Community Shield etc) will not.
5. The first team to total exactly 11 or 21 goals wins.  The winner will receive 45% of the total staked for that game.  If more
than one team wins, the prize is shared equally.
6. The team(s) with the lowest number of goals wins the Booby Prize which is 5% of the total staked.  If more than
one team has the lowest goal tally, this prize is shared equally.
7. Once a team reaches 11 or 21 goals, that Pontoon game ends and winners are declared.
8. If a team exceeds 21 goals, it is bust and out of the game.
9. Cup and play-off games include extra time, but not penalties.
10. If a team plays more than once over
a Friday to Monday period, only the first game will count.
11. If a team does not play over the weekend period
Friday to Monday, or the game is abandoned, then it will be awarded 2 goals.
“International Break” weekends, when no Premier League or Championship matches take place, will be regarded as blank weekends and no scores will be added to totals.

12. The team allocation and leader board will be available to view on the Grampound FC website, www.grampoundafc.co.uk, throughout
each Pontoon game.
